Overview

  Since its establishment, SWUPL has been committed to building a platform for international cooperation and exchange by carefully maintaining global partnership, and thoroughly exploring potential for cooperation projects. Since the signing of the first Memorandum of Agreement on Exchange with the University of Washington in January 1984, the inter-university exchange platform construction of SWUPL has achieved remarkable results, such as expanded inter-campus exchange platform, new progress in educational cooperation and exchange at multiple levels and in a wide range of fields, continuous opening up of education to the outside world, increased international status and prestige, and expanded scope and scale of cooperation institutions, attracting a large number of high-quality resources from abroad.

  By far, Our University has signed 252 inter-university cooperation agreements with 167 universities and institutions (such as Pennsylvania State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, University of Technology Sydney, University of Canterbury, University of Glasgow, Tohoku University (Japan), Waseda University, Yonsei University) from 34 countries and regions (such as USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Laos) across 4 continents (Americas, Europe, Oceania and Asia), covering diversified means of cooperation such as teacher exchange, student exchange (internship), joint program, cooperative research, and personnel exchange visits, with increasingly expanding inter-university exchange platforms. Our University has university partners reasonably distributed across the world except Africa and Latin America.

  With significant increase in the number of cooperation and exchange universities, the university pays more attention to the relevance and purposefulness in seeking inter-university partners, and gradual establishment of cooperative relations with a number of world-class prestigious universities has upgraded the level of cooperation universities. Up to now, our University has signed cooperation and exchange agreements with 23 top 200 universities in the world (QS World Ranking), among which nearly 20 university partners are ranked among the world's top 100 universities in terms of overall ranking or law.

  Our University has been building an inter-university exchange platform guided by national guidelines, policies, strategies and requirements. In response to the national “Belt and Road” Initiative, our University has incorporated the promotion of cooperation and exchange with countries along the “Belt and Road” into its education internationalization strategy, and to date, the University has established educational exchange relations with more than 30 universities and institutions in more than 10 countries, including Romania, Israel, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia, carrying out multi-faceted cooperation in such aspects as talent cultivation, joint construction of teaching and practice platforms, academic cooperation and exchange, and the construction of legal think tanks.

  On the basis of the inter-university exchange platform, the aggressive arrangement and strengthened coordination have improved the level of the University's internationalization as a whole. Increasingly improved level of internationalization of talent cultivation is reflected by increasing number of joint programs that recognize each other's credits and grant academic degrees, continuous moving forward of cooperative education projects (including overseas cooperative education projects), increasing number of outbound exchange students, the number of selected students for “Excellent Undergraduate Program” of the Ministry of Education ranking among the highest, “Bilingual and Bi-Legal-System” Class-a new model for talent cultivation, and expanding overseas practice and practice bases for students; increasingly improved level of internationalization of student sources is reflected by increasing number of international student pools and international students coming to China; increasingly improved level of internationalization of teaching staff is reflected by a large number of resources for teachers to visit abroad through inter-university cooperation, and a good foundation for the University's efforts in attracting wisdom; and increasingly improved level of internationalization of academic cooperation and research platforms is reflected by effective implementation of inter-university cooperation agreements, university partners taking the initiative to carry out deeper cooperation with our University, developing the exchange and cooperation relationship from teacher and student exchange to joint organization of international academic conferences, collaborative research and international cooperative projects.
