Recently, the 30th College Students English Public Speaking, Writing and Reading Contests and the 2020 “FLTRP ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest (Chongqing) released the results. Ten students from SWUPL won the Grand Prize and First, Second and Third Prizes in the public speaking, reading and writing contests.
For three consecutive years since 2017, the “FLTRP ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest has been included in the “The Ranking of National Innovative Talents Training and Academic Competition of Colleges and Universities” published by the Higher Education Society of the Ministry of Education. Simultaneously, writing and reading contests were also included in the Ranking in 2019 for the first time. The contests attract outstanding students from all over the country, serving as a broad stage for college students to present demeanor and realize self-fulfillment, as well as a communication platform for wisdom and innovation in the field of foreign language education. The contests focus on the academic, critical, expansive and creative elements of the contestants to help students improve their language, thinking, cross-cultural communication and analytical and problem-solving skills.
It is understood that the “FLTRP ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking, Reading and Writing Contests are public welfare contests jointly hosted by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education, and co-organized by Beijing Waiyan Online Digital Technology Limited Company and China Language Assessment. The three contests are also known as “Uchallenge National English Competition for College Students”.
