Professor Robert P. Merges from UC Berkeley School of Law Visited SWUPL

On May 24th, Robert P. Merges, Professor of UC Berkeley School of Law, visited SWUPL. Yue Caishen, Vice President of SWUPL, and Guo Meisong, Head of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, attended the symposium.

At the symposium, Vice President Yue Caishen welcomed Professor Merges. Yue introduced the exchanges information of teachers and students between Berkeley School of Law and SWUPL, and hoped to promote further cooperation between the two sides, through the visit of Professor Merges.

Professor Merges affirmed the influence of SWUPL in the jurisprudential circle and wished the two universities could carry out more effective exchange programs for mutual benefits, jointly initiating a new stage.

Professor Robert P. Merges, a faculty member at UC Berkeley School of Law, is a top scholar in the field of Intellectual Property in the U.S. and is also the Co-founder and Director of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology. Especially specializing in the influence of Patent Law and Biotech Industry, Merges has authored lots of articles on the Economics of Intellectual Property Law. In addition to teaching and research projects, Professor Merges is a special advisor to Antitrust Division of U.S. Department of Justice and a member of Intellectual Property Group of U.S. Department of Justice.
