1 SWUPL President Scholarship for International Students

  Scholarship Introduction

  Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) offers SWUPL President Scholarship to the accepted international students of Bachelor program, Master program, Ph.D program, Chinese language program and exchange program.

  The SWUPL President Scholarship for degree programs includes three categories: Category A, B and C.

  (1)Doctoral program

  Category A : Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 2000 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  Category B: Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 1500 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  Category C: Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 1000 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  (2)Master Program

  Category A : Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 1500 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  Category B: Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 1000 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  Category C: Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 700 RMB per month (10 months in total)

  (3)Undergraduate Program

  Category A:Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 1000 RMB per month (10 months in total) ;

  Category B:Tuition and accommodation fees are free, with living allowance of 700 RMB per month (10 months in total);

  Category C:Tuition and accommodation fees are free, no living allowance

  (4)Chinese Language Program: 6,000 RMB/Year    3,000 RMB/Semester

  (5)Exchange program: 6,000 RMB/Year    3,000 RMB/Semester

  Scholarship Eligibility

  The applicant shall,

  (1) be non-Chinese applicants;

  (2) be admitted to or currently study at SWUPL;

  (3)not get any other type of scholarship;

  (4)have good comprehensive performance at SWUPL;

  (5)abide by laws and regulations.

  Generally, undergraduate program applicants shall be no more than 30 years old. Master program applicants shall be no more than 40 years old. Doctoral program applicants shall be no more than 50 years old.

  Application & Appraisal

  Students shall submit application form together with SWUPL application online, and the appraisal result will be sent with admission notice. Annual appraisal for the SWUPL President Scholarship will be held every October. Newly admitted students’ application will be evaluated on the basis of their performance during interview, the language proficiency and so on; students who have been studying at SWUPL for more than one year will be evaluated on the basis of their scores the last year, language proficiency, and comprehensive performance.

2 Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship for International Students

  Scholarship Category and Standard

  (1) First-class Scholarship

  Doctoral students: 35,000 RMB/Year

  Master students: 30,000 RMB/Year

  Undergraduate students: 25,000 RMB/Year      

  (2) Second-class Scholarship

  Doctoral students: 20,000 RMB/Year

  Master students: 15,000 RMB/Year

  Undergraduate students: 10,000 RMB/Year   

    

  Scholarship Eligibility

  Non-Chinese applicants wishing to participate in or are currently studying in a degree program (bachelor degree, master degree, doctoral degree, pre-university program) at Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

  Non-Chinese applicants who have already participated in a student exchange program (bachelor degree, master degree, doctoral degree, or pre-university program) at Southwest University of Political Science and Law for more than one semester.

  Applicants shall abide by the laws and decrees of China and rules and regulations of SWUPL.

 

  Scholarship Requirements

  (1) Applicants for Doctor's degree study must have a master degree and be under the age of 40; excellent academic performance required; two referrers (Professor or Associate Professor), and enrollment by a university in Chongqing is compulsory.

  (2) Applicants for Master's degree study must have bachelor degree, and be under the age of 35; excellent academic performance required; two referrers (Professor or Associate Professor), and enrollment by a university in Chongqing is compulsory.

  (3) Applicants for Bachelor's degree study must have attained equivalence to Chinese high school graduate, and be under the age of 20; excellent academic performance required; two referrers (Professor or Associate Professor), passing entrance exam of a university in Chongqing, or an exemption entrance granted by a university in Chongqing is compulsory.     

  (4) Applicants who are offered other scholarships are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

  (5) Applicants shall sign up for at least one desired university and 2-3 alternative majors, if applying for this scholarship abroad.

 

  Application Materials

  Applicants are required to submit the following application materials in two sets. All information and materials provided by the applicant are expected to be authentic. Documetns in languages other than Chinese or English must be submitted together with a translation in Chinese or English.

  (1) Application form.

  (2) Certificate of highest academic qualification. The applicant who is currently studying at Southwest University of Political Science and Law shall also provide a Study Certificate and transcripts from Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

  (3)Notarized transcripts of highest academic education.

  (4) Study or research plan (written in Chinese or English).

  (5) Two letters of recommendation. Applicants for master or doctoral degree studies should provide two letters of recommendation (in Chinese or English) by associate professors or professors.

  (7)  Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy), The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

  (8)   Copy of passport.

  (9)   The copy of HSK Certificate (if available).

  (10)  A CV of yourself( for graduates only).

  (11)  Non-Criminal Record Certificate(in English).

  June 1st, every year.

3 Chinese Government Scholarship

  Scholarship Categories

  Type A

  Type A includes the National Bilateral Scholarship Program, the Great Wall Scholarship Program, the China-EU Student Exchange Program, the China-AUN Scholarship Program, and the Pacific islands Forum Program, etc.

  Applicants apply through the official application system of China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ by choosing “Type A”, entering the agency number of Chinese Embassy or Consulate or other designated scholarship receiving institutions in your country and listing Southwest University of Political Science & Law as your first choice university.

  Funding categories: Undergraduate student, Postgraduate student, Doctoral student, General and Senior Visiting student.

  Type B

  Chinese University Program

  Applicants apply through the official application system of China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ by choosing “Type B", entering the agency number of SWUPL, 10652 to apply.

  Funding categories: master students and doctoral students.

  

  Scholarship Coverage& Criteria

  1. The scholarship covers registration fee (Type A), tuition, internship, accommodation on campus, and comprehensive medical insurance.

  2. Monthly living allowance

    1) Bachelor students: CNY 2,500 Yuan

    2) Master students (general visiting students): CNY 3,000 Yuan

    3) Doctoral students (senior visiting students): CNY 3,500 Yuan

  

  Scholarship Eligibility

  Scholarship applicants must

    1. be a citizen of a country other than P. R. China, and be in good health;

    2. for Type B, not be a student in any Chinese universities or schools at the time of application;

    3. not be sponsored by any other kind of scholarship;

    4. and be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs, or be a bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs, or be a master's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

  

  Application Procedures

  1. Please refer to http://ww.csc.edu.cn/laihua and http://sie.swupl.edu.cn for detailed introduction to the scholarship.

  2. Log on to the official website of China Scholarship Council (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register), register for user name and password before logging onto the system. Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer (11.0). Menu selection functions may not work in other browsers. Please complete the application in Chinese or English.

  3. After logging onto the system with your registered username and password, read the Online Application Guidance carefully and follow the steps. PLEASE NOTE that when you choose "Type A” you should fill correctly the agency number of the application receiving institutions in your country, and that you should choose "Type B" to march the agency no. of SWUPL, i.e. 10652. Otherwise you will not be able to continue your online application.

  4. Click "NEXT" and fill in the other information (education background and employment record, language proficiency and proposed study in China, etc. ) truly, correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.

  5. Preview the application form after finishing it and then submit it online. You can withdraw your application to make changes, but make sure to submit it again. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not be received either.

  6. SWUPL organizes expert panel to appraise the documents and makes a proposed list of applicants, and then reports to Chongqing Municipal Education Committee and China Scholarship Council for final appraisal and approval.

  7. Getting the approval, SWUPL announces the result on http://sie.swupl. edu.cn/ and informs the winners via Email.

  8. SWUPL posts Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) to the successful applicants directly by July.

  

  Application Documents (in duplicate)

  1.   Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in Chinese or English);

  2.   Notarized highest diploma (photocopy);

  Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

  3.    Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

  Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

  4.    A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English);

  This should be a minimum of 200 words for undergraduate students, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for graduate students.

  5.    Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);

  Applicants for the graduate programs or the senior scholar programs must submit two recommendation letters signed by professors or associate professors.

  6.    Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy), (written in English, only required for  applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months, can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org); The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

  7.   The copy of Pre-admission Letter from designated Chinese university (if available);

  8.   The copy of HSK Certificate (if available).

  9.   A CV of yourself.

  10.  Non-Criminal Record Certificate(in English).

  All documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of 1 to 10. You should submit TWO sets of bound documents. And no application documents will be returned.

  

  Application Deadline

  Every March for Type A (refer to application receiving agency for exact date).

  Every April 1 for Type B.
