The Delegation of SWUPL Was Invited to Attend the 13th Confucius Institute Conference

On December 4th, the 13th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center of Sichuan province. The officials present included present included Shang Wenjiang, Vice President of SWUPL, Guo Meisong, Head of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Ju Yiya, Director of Confucius Institute Project as well as Foreign Director Chen Suhan and Chinese Director Song Bishu of Confucius Institute which was co-founded by SWUPL and University of Montana.

During the Conference, Shang Wenjiang successively met with Professor Jennifer Stevenson, Vice President of College of William & Mary, and Dean Chen Suhan. They exchanged in-depth views on the student and teacher exchange programs and the development plans of Confucius Institute respectively. Shang Wenjiang also had a specific discussion on issues of receiving visiting scholars and exchange students from SWUPL with Professor Jennifer Stevenson.

The 13th Confucius Institute Conference was hosted by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the People's Government of Sichuan Province and undertaken by Education Department of Sichuan Province and the People's Government of Chengdu Municipal. The Conference took “Boosting Development through Reform and Innovation, Creating Future with Joint Efforts” as its theme. There were more than 1500 individuals in attendance, including presidents of universities, representatives of Confucius Institutes from 154 countries and regions around the world, together with ambassadors to China from different countries and representatives of other national language and cultural promotion agencies as well as representatives of national relevant ministries and commissions, local education authorities and colleges and universities hosted by China.
